What it costs, before we start
Trade pricing has a reputation it mostly earns. Here is ours in plain figures, and the rule underneath it: nothing beyond a basic repair happens until you have the number.

How much does a garage door repair or service cost in the Illawarra?
Doormec Garage Doors charges $170 for a standard service call or basic repair, plus the cost of any parts required. The same $170 applies to an annual garage door service, which takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes and includes a written service record for warranty purposes. Where multiple doors are serviced at the same address, the callout is charged once and additional doors are charged for labour and parts only. Measure and quote for a replacement door is free and carries no obligation. Larger repairs such as torsion spring, lift cable or opener replacement are quoted in full before any work begins, with the price varying according to door size and weight, since double sectional doors require heavier components than single roller doors, and wide-span shed doors require calculated rather than catalogue spring specification. Prices are current as at 2026 and cover our standard Illawarra, Wollongong, Northern Suburbs and South Coast service area. Parts pricing depends on door size, brand and specification, which is why we quote it rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for half of you.

Pricing questions
Why is there a callout fee at all?
Because getting a fully stocked van and a technician to your address has a real cost whether the fix takes five minutes or fifty. The $170 covers travel, diagnosis and the labour on straightforward work, and it means we can carry the parts to actually finish most jobs on the first visit rather than quoting and coming back.
Do I pay the callout on top of a repair quote?
For straightforward repairs the $170 is the labour, and you pay it plus any parts. For larger work such as spring, cable or motor replacement we quote the whole job up front and tell you clearly what is included, so there is no callout appearing separately at the end.
Will you tell me the price before doing the work?
Always. If the fix goes beyond a basic repair we stop, explain what is involved, give you the number and let you decide. Nobody should find out what a job cost by reading the invoice.
What affects the cost of a garage door repair?
Mainly the parts and the door size. A double sectional door needs heavier springs and cables than a single roller door, and wide-span shed doors need calculated rather than catalogue springs. Access matters too, particularly on steep or stepped driveways where a replacement door has to be carried in.
Do you charge more to come to outlying suburbs?
No. Coledale, Berry, Nowra and the smaller northern villages are all charged the same callout as Wollongong. They take us longer to get to and we would rather cover the whole area properly than nickel-and-dime the edges of it.
