Residential garage door installed by Doormec in the Illawarra

Suppliers

Brands we supply, and every brand we repair

We are not tied to a single manufacturer. That means we can specify the door that suits your opening rather than the one we are obliged to sell.

Quick answer

Which garage door brands does Doormec work with?

Doormec Garage Doors supplies and installs doors and openers from B&D, Gliderol, Merlin, Steel-Line and Centurion, using Colorbond steel across the full colour range. Doormec is not an exclusive dealer for any single manufacturer, which allows door and opener specification to be matched to the opening and the application rather than to a supply agreement. Separately from supply, Doormec repairs and services every major garage door and opener brand, including doors it did not install and brands it does not sell. Mechanical parts such as springs, cables, rollers, hinges and bearings are largely specified by measurement rather than brand and remain available for most older doors; electronic control boards are the component most likely to be discontinued, typically around twenty years after release, at which point opener replacement becomes necessary. Doormec covers the Illawarra, Wollongong, Northern Suburbs and South Coast. Phone 0490 774 111.

Repairs

We repair the brands we do not sell

Most of our repair work is on doors installed by somebody else, often decades ago. Brand is rarely the obstacle. Age of the electronics usually is.

Answers

Brand questions

Do you only work on the brands you supply?

No. We repair and service every major garage door and opener brand, including plenty we have never sold. Most of our repair work is on doors installed by somebody else years ago.

Can you get parts for a discontinued garage door?

Often yes for mechanical parts, since springs, cables, rollers, hinges and bearings are largely generic and specified by measurement rather than brand. Electronics are the harder part: once a manufacturer stops supplying a control board, a dead board means a new head unit regardless of brand.

Which garage door brand is best?

The honest answer is that installation quality matters more than brand for how a door performs over twenty years. All the major Australian brands make good doors. What separates a door that runs sweetly at year fifteen from one that does not is whether the guides were packed to the opening, the drums set for square lift and the opener commissioned properly.
