How we got here
Repairs first, sales second
Plenty of garage door businesses are really door retailers that will grudgingly do a repair. We built Doormec the other way around. Repairs are the bulk of what we do, and they are the work that teaches you what actually fails, why, and how long it takes to get there.
That has a practical consequence for you. When we quote a new door we are quoting the door we will be servicing in eight years, so we specify hardware for the environment rather than for the invoice. Marine-grade cables and sealed bearings in Windang and Thirroul. Low-headroom track geometry in older Coniston and Kiama garages. Calculated spring specification on wide-span sheds through Berry and Jamberoo. None of that shows on a brochure and all of it decides how the door behaves a decade later.
It also means we will tell you when not to spend money. If a fifty-year-old roller door has three components left to fail, putting a new spring in it is buying months, and we would rather say so than take the job twice.

What makes a good garage door installation?
Almost entirely things you cannot see from the driveway: guides packed to follow an out-of-square opening rather than hung plumb, drums set for equal wrap so the door lifts square, seals sized to the real gap, and the opener commissioned with correct travel, force and safety testing. Those decisions are why one door still runs sweetly at year fifteen and an identical one does not.
