Garage door sales across the Illawarra
A new door is a measuring job before it is a shopping job. We measure the opening you actually have, then show you what genuinely fits it.
Quick answer
What is involved in buying a new garage door?
Buying a new garage door starts with measurement rather than selection, because headroom, side room, backroom and the true clear opening height determine which door types can physically be installed. A free on-site measure establishes those figures and whether the opening is square, which on older Illawarra homes frequently it is not. Door options then follow: roller doors for compact or older garages with limited headroom, panel lift and sectional doors where appearance, insulation and sealing matter more, and commercial shutters where duty cycle is the deciding factor. Colours come from the full Colorbond range and profiles run from wide rib through slimline, shadowline and timber-look. A complete quote should itemise the door, hardware, opener, and removal and disposal of the old door separately. Installation is typically a single day once the door arrives, with lead time depending on profile, colour and size. Doormec supplies and installs garage doors across the Illawarra, Wollongong and South Coast with free measure and quote. Phone 0490 774 111.

What we supply
Roller Garage Doors
The roller door is the workhorse of the Illawarra: fewer parts, less space needed, and a shape that fits garages built long before anyone designed for a sectional track.

If you want the garage door to actually look like part of the house rather than a hole in the front of it, this is the door type that gives you the options.

An opener is only as good as the door underneath it, which is why we test the door before we ever talk about the motor.

Commercial doors get specified on cycles and load, not on catalogue size. Getting that wrong is why some businesses replace a motor every two years.

Answers
Garage door sales questions
Is a quote for a new garage door free?
Yes, free and no obligation. We come to you, measure properly and leave you with an itemised written quote. We do not do the sit-at-the-table-until-you-sign routine.
Do you remove and dispose of the old door?
Yes, and it is itemised on the quote rather than buried in it. On older doors, particularly tilt doors with heavy spring assemblies, removal is a genuine part of the job and it is safer done by us than left in your yard.
What colours are available?
The full Colorbond range, which covers everything from Surfmist and Shale Grey through to Monument, Basalt and Night Sky. On period homes we generally suggest a mid to dark colour with a finer profile so the door recedes rather than dominating the frontage.
Can you match a new door to an existing one?
Usually yes if the profile and colour are still current. Where a profile has been discontinued we will show you the closest current equivalent and be honest about how close it actually is, rather than telling you it will match and letting you discover otherwise on install day.
Do you supply doors to builders and trade?
Yes. We do new construction and renovation work for builders across the Illawarra, and scheduling reliability is generally what they care about most. We give real dates rather than optimistic ones.
