Why is my garage door opener beeping every 30 seconds?
On an opener with a battery backup, a regular interval beep is nearly always the battery telling you it has reached end of life. Backup batteries last around three to five years. It is an inexpensive part and swapping it stops the beeping immediately. If your unit has no backup battery, a regular beep is more likely a stored fault code.
My garage door beeps the whole time it is closing. Is that a fault?
Not necessarily. On openers set up for automatic timed closing, and on many commercial installations, a warning beep while the door travels is a required safety feature rather than a fault. If it started suddenly on a residential door that never did it before, then auto-close has probably been switched on accidentally and we can turn it off.
The opener beeps and the light flashes but the door will not move. What is it?
That combination is a diagnostic code, and on most brands it points to the safety beams first. Clean both lenses, check both indicator lights are steady rather than flashing, and check nothing has knocked the brackets. If the beams are fine, the next most likely causes are lost travel limits after a power interruption or a force limit tripping because the door is binding.
